Girl's Beach Weekend

The second weekend in April, three girlfriends and I headed down to Wilmington, NC for the Azalea Festival. Saying we had a blast would be an understatement! We decided to do the Home Tour this year. We went in 5 of the 9 homes on display and got a couple of good decorating ideas.

The azaleas where in full bloom and gorgeous!

We stay in Southport, NC at "D's" in-laws home. Mom "J" is such a gracious hostess and ensures you will have a good time.

On Saturday, we did a little shopping in Southport and had lunch at "Fishy Fishy" (right on the marina).

Sunday, on the way back home, we stopped in Wrightsville Beach, NC for lunch at The Oceanic. We sat out on the pier...enjoyed our lunch...and the views! Thanks girls for a great weekend! :-)

My mom, dad, sis, aunt & I went to Myrtle Beach (along w/ the 2 doggies, Armani & Noah) and had the best time.
Our "spot" on the beach

"L" & I got down there on Tuesday night and ate dinner at the Farmer's Daughter (southern country cooking...not bad but we waited 1 hour to get in!).

On Wednesday night, we went to Joe's Crab Shack at Barefoot Landing. They didn't take reservations but did do call ahead sitting. Only had to wait 3 minutes!! :-)

At Barefoot, we got to see the white tigers & the monkey (w/ a diaper!).

On Thursday night, we headed to Amici's Brick Oven & Italian Bistro at Broadway at the Beach. Wait time...5 minutes!!

On Friday night, we headed to Fiesta Mexicana (my dad's favorite cuisine). Afterwards we made an impromptu stop at a car show. We saw some really cool cars, but this one was the best.

Then we went to the Tanger Outlet Mall. I found myself a few things....more about that later!

Saturday morning, we had to return home :-( Oh how sad it is to be back to "reality"!

Beach Blogging #3

Last night (Friday) we went to Hoskins for dinner. It's a small family-style, home-cooking, seafood restaurant that is really good. Since we were in the area, we found the resort I'm staying at in June. Whew what a relief...1) it does exist and 2) it looks really nice.

Today we woke up to sunny weather...finally! Girlville, her hubby & I headed down to the beach and camped out most of the day.

Here's a view from the balcony...

Here's our tent all set up.

Sadly today is our last day :-( We will be heading home tomorrow morning and going back to work on Monday. It's been a great week and we had lots of fun!

Beach Blogging #2

Today it's cool, windy & rainy. Not so great of a day but any day at the beach is better than a day at work!! We are just taking it easy, relaxing and reading inside. We might go out later for dinner. But Punchy said she needed photos...so here we go.

Looking off the balcony to the left (see our pool)
Looking down the beach....no one out there today!
Looking off the balcony to the right...that's the lazy river & pool at the condo beside ours
Here's our ocean view...a couple of umbrellas are set up but no people underneath
When we got here on Monday, we saw this cute little dove family

Beach Blogging

...hasn't really happened yet this week! Not too much to tell yet. The drive down on Monday was a little rough due to all the rain we went through. When we arrived, we had lunch at Hamburger Joe's then went to the grocery store for weekly supplies. Girlville made grilled chicken salads for dinner. On Tuesday, we got pedi's then went to scope out the resort I'm going to be staying at the first of June (for my sister's bachelorette weekend). Well I got the directions confused and we ended up searching in South Myrtle Beach when we should have been in North Myrtle. Needless to say, after passing the 300 block (where the resort was supposed to be) and seeing no resort...I was flipping out! Finally after a phone call...we figured out we needed to be in North Myrtle! I so needed a drink after that. We decided to go searching again another day! Last night we went to Chestnut Hill for dinner then watched the season finale of the Biggest Loser. I was shocked Helen won!

We don't have a plan yet for today...but maybe I'll get some pictures to share!

Azalea Festival Weekend

This weekend "A", "D" & "K" went down to Wilmington, NC for the Azalea Festival. We stayed with "D's" in-laws that live in Southport, NC (about 30 minutes south of Wilmington). We got there kind of late on Friday night so we all just headed to bed. Saturday morning we headed up to Wilmington to begin the garden tour. There were 12 different gardens to view, so we did half on Saturday and the other half on Sunday. The festival also consisted of a street fair (arts & crafts) down on the water in Wilmington. Here are a couple pictures from the garden. You can see the whole weekend here.

On Saturday night, we met the in-laws at the marina for some before dinner drinks at the Tiki Bar.
Sunday morning we decided to take the ferry over to Wilmington (instead of driving). That was a lot of fun. We finished up the rest of the garden tour then went to Wrightsville Beach and had a late lunch at The Oceanic....a wonderful seafood restaurant. We endure the wind and ate outside.

Check out all the people at the beach.

It was such a fun filled weekend with the girls. Hopefully it can turn into an annual trip!
